Atari 2600

Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney form Atari Inc. in 1972 and begin work on a video game called Pong. Based on the tabletop ping-pong game, the home version of Pong becomes a huge success in 1974. Three years later, the company introduces its video game console, the Atari 2600, and scores another huge success. Atari is subsequently sold to Warner Communications in 1976.

We had an Atari 2600 at my house. I loved "Clowns" - you controlled a teeter-totter board which caught clowns, throwing the opposite clown up to break balloons at the top of the screen - then you had to move the board to catch that clown when it came down.. repeat till you broke all the balloons or miss your clown and he died.
